The annual Virtual Production Gathering takes place at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), a medium-sized, government-funded higher education institute.
The university offers bachelor’s and master’s programs at professional and academic levels in the domains of Games, Media, Hotel, Facility, Logistics, Built Environment, Tourism, and Leisure & Events. More than 7.000 Dutch- and international students from some 100 countries are studying here.
The sustainable campus offers a lovely blend of green surroundings, modern learning spaces and historical character.
Housed in the Ocean Building, the XR Stage is a state-of-the-art production environment that uses a large LED-screen “volume” instead of the traditional green-screen setup. It is the first full-fledged XR stage made available to students at a University of Applied Sciences on the European continent.
The stage features a LED wall of about 8 m wide by 3.5 m high and a ceiling LED volume.
Housed in the Horizon Building, the Chapel is a historic and architecturally rich space. The building used to be a convent called (Maria) Mater Dei and, as the name indicates, the chapel was the place where the nuns congregated to pray. The convent closed down in 2017.
The university now uses the space to host lectures, conferences, symposiums and graduation ceremonies.
